Don't Buy Software. Get open source and save money.
By no means am I advocating using pirated software! What I am suggesting though is to use free software whenever possible. No matter what you need to do on your computer there's likely a free piece of software that can be downloaded that will do what you need. Do you need MS Office, but don't want to spend the money? Download OpenOffice. It works exactly the same, but it's free to download. What about Photoshop? It's a great program, but expensive and you can download a free program called Gimp that will do what Photoshop can do, but for free. You can even get free operating systems instead of using Windows! The Linux operating system is open source, which means it’s free.
Just because it’s free doesn’t mean that it’s rubbish. Think about it – Microsoft may have a team of 1000 developers in their offices thinking about how to make money with their latest software. Open source has a team of millions of developers all over the world thinking about how to offer stuff for free…
