Banks make plenty of money, loaning out deposits but they also make plenty of money on ATM fees and other small account charges. Did you know that some banks allow you to bank there for free? Many have stipulations around the number of transactions you can do each month, but if you stay within that amount, you get to have a bank account for no cost to you. Even small fees can add up each month and I'm sure you have other uses for that money rather than paying it to a very wealthy bank.
