Beat the System

One thing that's always unfortunate is when people don't get everything that they have coming to them, just because they didn't ask. What do I mean? I remember as a child, my mother finding out that my Grandmother was entitled to another pension that she was not receiving. It was a case of “you never asked, we didn't pay it out”. It's shocking that this sort of thing exists, but it does. Often large corporations and governments only provide services that you ask for and nothing more.

I previously worked in the insurance industry and part of our training dealt with different types of insurance. One thing that most people don't know is that if you own a credit card, you quite possibly have an accident insurance policy attached to that card. Unfortunately very rarely are these policies ever cashed in because people don't realize they even have them. It's things like this that make you angry and give you a desire to learn how to “beat the system”. It's not that you want to scam anyone out of something, but it's that you want what is due to you.

The best way to guard yourself from problems like these is to remain aware. What I mean by that is that you need to pay attention to what's happening around you. Read the fine print when you sign things, ask lots of questions and never settle for not knowing about something. In a world full of information, any question that you may have is just one “google” away. So many people are content to be ignorant about things that they don't think that they need to know and in the process they get taken advantage of. Just know that beating the system is not as hard as you think. It just requires you to remain vigilant at all times.
