Reduce Energy Use
With so much focus on reducing energy use both by private companies and the major Governments of the world, don't you think it's about time that you started to reduce energy use in your home? Many people have been quite slow to make changes to their lifestyle, even though these changes don't actually cost money, rather they save money.
If you have been hesitant to spend the money on new appliances, now is a great time to think about it. Not only will they give your home a nice, new and fresh look but new appliances have been designed to reduce energy use which will result in significant monthly savings. Changing all your light bulbs from incandescent to fluorescent is another way to save money as well. These light bulbs have come down in price and you are now able to buy packs of 5 or 10 bulbs for a low price, making the switch fairly inexpensive. These light bulbs should use about 50% less energy which will manifest itself with a nice savings on your electricity bill.
Learning to use water more efficiently within your home is another great step to reduce your energy use. Hot water in particular is quite expensive to use because your hot water heater is either powered with electricity or gas. Consider setting a timer to keep your shower time down and make sure your dishwasher is full of dishes before putting it on. Turning the heat down will also help you in your goal of reducing energy use. Instead of walking around your home in the winter with a t-shirt on, turn the temperature down a few degrees and put on a sweatshirt or sweater.
